The Bench Show set a high standard for Philippine Fashion Week with its homegrown lineup of brands Human, Kashieca, Bench, Randy Ortiz for Bench and Bench Body. Top celebrities like Piolo Pascual, Enchong Dee, Angelica Panganiban, Georgina Wilson, to mention a few, took to the runway in showstopping looks. Like Bea Alonzo, who was decked out in Kashieca, was a model of girl power in a clean-cut nautical meets sporty ensemble, while Kim Chiu walked like a vision of a present-day princess as she rocked a collared polo tee with a red embellished sheer floor-sweeping skirt. From heavy prints to bright-colored solids, classic silhouettes to sculptural layers – these various elements clicked in a most dynamic manner to create looks that makes for a category of its own. The brands highlighted the versatility of their pieces by mixing casual with a touch of couture. One manifestation was through the integration of a sheer, billowy skirt with a graphic collared tee while another look pairs a sporty ensemble with an urban flair through knit striped tops and tailored trousers with a feminine inspired headband. Sheer geometric designs seemed to be an obvious favorite and while their lengths and volume can go for miles, they reflect a sexy balance when put together with an outfit with more classic silhouettes, which make for an interesting detail. Collectively, the looks at the Bench show displayed that every classic look, fused with the right elements, can look current and timeless at the same time.
